Bisnonanoic anhydride - Introduction
nonan-1-oic anhydride, also known as Decanoic Anhydride with the chemical formula C20H36O3, is an organic anhydride.
Nature:
-Appearance: nonan-1-oic anhydride is a colorless to yellowish liquid.
-Solubility: Soluble in most organic solvents, such as alcohols, ethers and esters.
-Melting point: About 10-13 ° C.
-Boiling point: About 295-305 ° C.
Use:
- nonan-1-oic anhydride is mainly used in the synthesis of organic compounds, such as esters of raw materials, such as synthetic lubricants, oils, fragrances and coatings.
-It can also be used as a highly effective cover agent, surfactant and softener preparation.
Method:
nonan-1-oic anhydride can be obtained by transesterification of nonanoic acid and acetic anhydride. First, nonanoic acid is reacted with an excess of acetic anhydride, and the ester exchange reaction is carried out in the presence of an acid catalyst to obtain nonanoic acid ester. The resulting nonanoic acid ester is then subjected to a dehydration treatment to give the nonan-1-oic anhydride.
